Kelp Forest Ecologist
Education / Outreach
I believe that meaningful learning happens through a mix of hands-on mentorship, classroom teaching, trial and error, and curiosity. Throughout my PhD, I’ve mentored undergraduate and high school students, helping them design and carry out independent research projects using tools like eDNA, molecular biology, field ecology, and lab-based bioassays. I am committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment where diverse perspectives are valued and respected.

I also enjoy sharing science in informal, community-based settings—whether at summer camps, schools, science festivals, or community centers. In these spaces, I’ve given talks, led interactive activities like seaweed pressing and stamping, and designed ecology-themed games to spark curiosity and engagement. I often highlight the work happening in our lab and the broader importance of ocean science.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep building these connections, share my passion for coastal ecosystems, and inspire the next generation of scientists and ocean stewards.
